Who we are

Rock Holiday is a website created purely for fun and entertainment. I (Rock Holiday) do not make a profit nor do I seek one. This web site has been created with completely free tools (almost). In future if traffic gets out of hand, I may have to seek remuneration to cover any costs but currently and in the foreseeable future it’s completely free.

Comments

When visitors leave comments in the guest book I collect the data shown in the form and the browser user agent string to help with spam detection but probably not. More likely I’ll just delete things that looks like crap.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should be aware images may contain embedded location data. Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images on the website. If you don’t care I don’t care. I will use the information to monitor my progress across the country and around the world and include location details in the Travel Map. Considering that is the point of the web site to see where I go why not leave the location detail in. Just don’t take a photo in your lounge room. 🙂

News Letter

If you are interested in keeping up with my travels may opt-in to the news letter saving your name and email address. This is optional and for your convenience. Each email sent to you will contain a link to discontinue the news letter.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a guest book entry, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. Again this is the point of the site to look back and see where I (Rocky) has been.

There is no user registration process. All users will sign in as “guest” and the password is only available from my base.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left a Guest Book entry and you wish to have it removed send an email to rockholiday@rockholiday.x10.bz and I’ll ask my Dad to remove it.

Where your data is sent

I won’t share your personal data with anyone even if they promise not to tell cross their heart and hope to die. However the details you put in the name field are visible on the Rock Holiday Travels page and on the Guest Book, therefore visible to anyone who views the page so you can make it as anonymous as you like. I may also create a “Friends of Rock” page one day when I get a few mates. Otherwise I might look like Nigel Nomates.

See if I don’t!
